Your uploads exist for one purpose: certifying your authorship. We will never sell your data, never license it to third parties, and never use it to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. That use would be diametrically opposed to what this service exists to do: empower human-certified art. Your session files stay private; only cryptographic hashes and the certificate content you choose to publish are public. You retain all rights to your work — we claim no ownership, and you grant us only the minimal license needed to store, process, watermark, and display it as the service requires.

Chronicled is offered as an early, experimental service. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice. The service may be suspended or discontinued at any time. Pricing (currently free) may change with notice. If you would not be comfortable losing something, keep your own copy — see the next section.

We work hard to store your sessions and certificates durably, but during the beta we make no guarantee that any data — uploads, sessions, certificates, or accounts — will be preserved, available, or recoverable. Data may be lost, corrupted, or deleted, including through migrations, outages, or our mistakes. Always retain your own originals. Chronicled is a certification layer, not your archive or backup.

A Chronicled certificate is evidence: a tamper-evident, Bitcoin-anchored record that a progression of work existed at specific points in time, bound to process signals that are expensive to fake. It is not a legal determination, warranty, or guarantee of authorship or authenticity, and no certificate makes forgery impossible. We do not indemnify you, and we accept no liability for how any certificate, trust score, or watermark is interpreted, relied upon, or disputed by anyone — buyers, platforms, courts, or other artists. If someone challenges the authenticity of your work, the certificate is yours to present; the claim remains yours to defend.

Anchoring is designed to be permanent. When you delete a work or account, we delete our stored record — but cryptographic digests already committed to the Bitcoin blockchain (and to public OpenTimestamps calendars) cannot be un-published. These are opaque hashes that reveal nothing about your work's content, but their existence at a point in time is irreversible by design.

Upload only work you created or have the right to certify. Do not use the service to certify work that is not yours, to launder AI-generated output as human-made, or for anything unlawful. We may remove content or close accounts that abuse the service or undermine the integrity of the registry — attempting to game the certification is grounds for immediate termination. Keep your credentials secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED — INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY DATA WILL BE PRESERVED.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHRONICLED AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST WORKS, OR REPUTATIONAL HARM — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE BETA SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (CURRENTLY: NOTHING).
